This piece carries a couple of stories with it. I created it just before my 2024 gallery show, part of a last burst of energy — that familiar push to “do more” before the doors open. It was one of the first paintings where I shifted into a new palette with gold and fluorescents, and once I started, I couldn’t stop.
The name came later, thanks to my closest childhood friend. She stopped by the Kentucky show on her way back to Wisconsin, and this was the one she couldn’t walk away from. It now hangs in her collection back home — a little piece of my heart that didn’t travel too far away.
